The True Acharya: A Criterion

A RESTLESS MAN
makes money,
gets power and fame:
but
HE CANNOT TEACH !

No teacher is good or true
If he lacks peace of mind:
One, restless and greedy,
Makes you one of his kind.
_
Peace breeds patience, faith
Peace breeds quietness,hope,
Breeds calmness, restfulness,
Showers Truth at one stroke.
_
Sit calmly before the teacher,
Be receptive to what he says.
If you find a teacher restless,
Leave him to mend his ways.
_
Good teachers do not hurry,
They eat no pickles or curry,
They have no cause to worry,
They need never tell "Sorry!".
_
Have patience with a good one,
Allow him an year or even two.
Question him with all humility,
His answers will make you free.
_
Never ask him private questions,
Never keep any secret from him.
Answers all his questions truly,
Be filled with bliss to the brim !
_
True silence before the true Guru
Truly humility in dealing with him,
Not embarrassing him in any way,
Will turn towards you God's Whim.
_
The true Guru is God's own man,
He has become a true man of God.
Loving Grace of a blessed God Man,
Will surely lead you to his Lord. !
